The type of skin or skins, different skins perform differently in each process.

The cleaning of suede and leather items is an operation that can only be carried out through the use of Specialist Processes in both Cleaning and Finishing.

Unlike textiles, suede, and leather items are manufactured from what is a naturally grown product, which essentially has been converted from a "Raw Animal Skin" into a wearable item.

When suede and leather become soiled or stained, the owner of the item is deemed to seek The Specialist or Professional Cleaner to have their item cleaned.

There are three processes by which the item could be cleaned. Two of these are by the use of solvents, hydrocarbon, or perchloroethylene in a dry cleaning machine, the other being aqueous cleaning. Each cleaning process has its own unique properties, programs, and products to be able to clean suede and leather items.

The decision on which cleaning process an item should be put through depends on the characteristics of each item.

The objective of Specialist Cleaning Suede and Leather items is to process them to the highest standard of cleaning by removing as much staining and soiling that is possible without causing damage. And to have an item that can be fully finished and returned to the customer in a condition of high-quality cleaning and finish.
