There are many types of leather in this world. What kind of leather do you have?
- Aniline leatherThis type of leather has the most top quality, due to its originality of animal hide and skin. Thus, aniline leather has a slight color variation. The word aniline explains that artificial pigmented finish is not needed, which means the leather is in its natural dyed state. It is generally the most expensive leather type because only the best raw hides can qualify this type of leather.
- NubuckNubuck is another part of hide or skin. It is produced by sanding the outer layer of hide or skin to remove the grain surface. The quality of nubuck is exactly lower than that of full-grain leathers. Often waxy tops or greases are applied to give a fascinating touch. We will find it quite expensive as there is extensive work involved.
- SuedeAlmost the same as nubuck, but suede comes from the inner side of the hide or skin. Suede is softer than nubuck since the outer layer is rougher and tougher than the inner layer. According to its softness, suede is mostly used for clothing and delicate uses. However, suede is quite resistant to water and severe weather, thus it needs another simple maintenance to keep your lovely suede clean.
- Embossed leatherSometimes, standard grain leathers are embossed to create certain patterns or designs to improve the appearance. The process includes stamping by using heat and high pressure on leather. They may then be polished with pigment to produce two-tone leather. Embossed leather will be produced in a similar manner to standard grain.
- Oiled leatherThe name has explained everything about this type of leather. Extra fatliquor will be applied to the leather during the dyeing process. The leather will have an oily type feel and, of course, a glowing surface. Oiled leather will be finished out as normal but may have extra oil applied by spraying near the end of the process.
